About the Project

 

Bridges not Borders is an ACE-funded art and literature project run by Susmita Bhattacharya and Aiysha Jahan. 

We hope to build bridges locally, nationally and internationally through South Asian art and literature.

We will run workshops in community settings and schools in the Solent region (Southampton, Portsmouth, Gosport, Isle of Wight and elsewhere), employ local artists and promote South Asian art and literature. 

In collaboration with Dahlia Books, we will also produce an anthology of the best South Asian writing through an open call for submissions from across the globe. 

South Asian artists from the Solent region will be commissioned to produce artwork that incorporates the work produced during the project for an exhibition in Portsmouth Guildhall in July 2024.

The project has far-reaching international impact through Write Beyond Borders, a mentoring project for South Asian writers based in the UK and South Asia.
